Atkinson to advise Senate president regarding court ruling tomorrow

Gary Spaulding, Senior Gleaner Writer KINGSTON, Jamaica: Attorney General Patrick Atkinson said he will tomorrow be outlining his recommendation on how President of the Senate Floyd Morris proceed in the aftermath of last Friday’s ruling by the Constitutional Court.

Atkinson told The Gleaner that he had completed his findings after reading the 84 page court document.

However, he said a short while ago that he was in the process of ensuring that the "relevant parties" are in receipt of his recommendations before making them public.

Atkinson told The Gleaner that he will be making his recommendation public at a press conference at the Office of the Prime Minister tomorrow.

With the Constitutional court ruling that Leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Andrew Holness was wrong in using undated and pre-signed letter to kick Arthur Williams and Christopher Tufton from the Senate.

While it is not what Tufton is up to, Williams has signalled through his lawyer that he will be attending Friday’s sitting of the Senate.

Ruel Reid and Nigel Clarke were appointed to the Senate to replace Tufton and Williams.
