The Coffee Industry Board (CIB) is warning of a scam involving the fraudulent misuse of the email addresses of several CIB employees and licensed coffee stakeholders in Jamaica and overseas.

"The public, especially licenced (sic) coffee stakeholders, are advised to contact the CIB shipping department, and [we] urge you to inform your overseas coffee importers of this recent occurrence in order to eliminate or minimise the risks of fraudulent rerouting of funds and shipping documents," it warns in a notice posted on the website of the Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority.

While the notice issued by the management of the CIB does not provide any details of the extent or nature of the fraud, the CIB says the matter is being investigated.
