There was mass confusion during the running of the first men's 100 metres semi-final at the JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Senior and Junior Championships at the National Stadium last night.

There were several false-starts and at least one athlete refused to leave the track after being disqualified.

Defending champion Yohan Blake who, based on replays, appeared to leave his blocks early on two occasions was allowed to run under protest. Things got worse after a fourth false-start when former champion Oshane Bailey was shown the red card and denied the opportunity to run under protest . He stood his ground and was supported by several of his fellow athletes.

After a long delay a member of the G.C. Foster College coaching staff came and escorted him off the track. Kemar Bailey-Cole, the 2014 Commonwealth 100m champion who was among the starters withdrew before the race was run.

The Gleaner tried to get a comment from an official but the answer was "no comment".
