Residents of Mount Salem now have fewer restrictions on their movement.

The curfew which has been in effect in the community since Friday, when the first Zone of Special Operations was imposed in the community, has been lifted.

Major Basil Jarrett, Media Liaison for the Jamaica Defence Force, told RJR News that the curfew has been replaced by a cordon, which, according to him “is much more localized and specific and designed to restrict movement in a smaller area in order to facilitate security operations.”

He stressed, however, that the Zone of Special Operations for Mount Salem was still in effect.
