Government spends millions to improve health centres

The Government spent more than $620 million over the last two years to improve the infrastructure of health centres across the island.

Health Minister Dr Fenton Ferguson says the money was used to upgrade and expand 128 facilities across the island.

Dr Ferguson says the renovations are being undertaken by the National Health Fund (NHF) as part of a thrust by the Government to improve health care services at the community level.

He was speaking this week at the official opening of the Nannyville Health Centre in South East St Andrew, which was refurbished by the NHF at a cost of $51.4 million.
