ST ANN, Jamaica — Many students in the Runaway Bay area of St Ann heading to school in Brown's Town ended up late as public transportation proved inadequate on the first morning after the summer holidays.
Some students in the Salem area said that they had been waiting on public transportation from as early as 6:00 am.
At 8:00am, the time when most schools would have started, students were still awaiting public transportation. However, buses which ply the Ocho Rios to Brown's Town route were unable to pick up the students because they are filled to capacity when they get to the area.
One student explained that they have been at the bus stop for so long that buses which passed them at the bus stop heading to Brown's Town have also passed them heading back to Ocho Rios.
