KINGSTON, St Andrew — The Zones of Special Operations (ZOSO) communication team today reported on Twitter that 70 additional police officers, each equipped with body cameras, have been deployed to Mount Salem in St James, which was last Friday declared the first zone of special operation.

During a briefing at the beginning of ZOSO on September 1, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), Rocky Meade, said more than 100 members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) were deployed as a part of the Joint Forces to Mount Salem in St James.

Meade also said the forces will be identifiable by a patch on their uniform marked “Joint Forces” along with a name badge.

The Joint Forces have the power to enforce curfews and search without warrants.
