BEENIE Man's grandmother, Doris Ferguson Stewart, passed away at her home in Shrewsbury district, near Cotterwood in St Elizabeth last Thursday. She was 91 years old.
Stewart, affectionately called Dar Dar or Gloria, reportedly died of a heart attack.
The Grammy-winning deejay said he is taking the loss very hard as she was very much involved in his upbringing.
“We share a close bond. She was active right through my entire life... My mother, right now, is hospitalised due to the said situation,” he told the Jamaica Observer yesterday.
Beenie Man said he and his family will need some time to grieve his grandmother's passing.
Beenie Man (given name Moses Davis) won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2001 for Art and Life, distributed by Virgin.
His tracks include Romie, Who Am I, Girls Dem Sugar, and Dude featuring Miss Thing.
