It was a glorious celebration last Sunday, November 26, as relatives, friends and associates of the late Marion Yvonne Thompson gathered at the Evangelical Church of Christ International (Calvary Temple) in East Albion, St Thomas.
Tributes came from family friends Hopelyn Williams and Pastor Moncrieffe, grand nieces Shaneka Edwards and Ardene Royal, also cousin Leroy Phillips.
The remembrance was done by Lumata McKay, a close family friend, who spoke about her association with Thompson. She mentioned that the late 'Auntie Mar' was a kind and friendly person who was shy but could always be seen smiling.
Thompson's cousin Viviene Champagnie who gave the eulogy spoke about Marion's early years in the parish of Manchester and her later years in St Thomas: “She was a person whom you could always depend on' mentioned Champagnie, “one who was not a 'trouble maker'.”
She also spoke about her often quiet demeanour, but one who would stand up for her rights, in other words — “don't pick a fight with her, she will defend herself”.
