KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaican singer Dalton Harris earned a standing ovation from all four judges as well as the studio audience during Saturday’s second live show of the current season of X Factor UK.
The 24-year-old chose Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing and delivered a powerhouse of a performance which drew wild cheers and applause throughout the performance. His performance caused judge Robbie Williams to remark” If Jamaica had an Olympic singing team, they should send you.”
Williams’s wife Ayda Field noted: “I don’t know why you chose to sing I Have Nothing; because you have everything… you are mega.”
For lead judge and creator of the televised talent show Simon Cowell, the performance could be the one to change his life; while his mentor Louis Tomlinson said Harris is in a league of his own.
Incidentally, fellow Jamaican Tessanne Chin sang the very same song during her final performance on The Voice, when she won that American competition in 2013.
