Disability Charm secured victory in Saturday’s 44th running of the $3.5 million 1000 Guineas for native-bred 3 year old fillies over a mile, the first classic of the 2018 season at Caymanas Park. Disability Charm who went off at 7-2, was ridden to victory by Robert Halledeen for trainer Patrick ‘Wacky’ Lynch and eventually held off 13-1 shot Lici’s Pepsi with Phillip Parchment and the 2-1 favourite Honey Ryda with Shane Ellis.
The 2000 Guineas for colts and geldings will be run on Sunday. Another Vigorous to be partnered by 3-time former champion jockey Dane Nelson is the 9-5 ante-post favourite while last year’s overall champion 2 year old Marquesas is the 5-2 second choice in the forecast odds. The race is set for 5:15 pm.
