Dr. Carl Williams has been officially given command of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).
Dr. Williams took-up the role as Commissioner during a change of command ceremony at the Police Officers Club on Hope Road in St. Andrew, this afternoon (September 15).
He officially took over the office, following the retirement of Owen Ellington in July.
In his first address as Commissioner, Dr. Williams says that the position is not one for the faint of heart and commended the past commissioners, some of, whom were in attendance at the handing over ceremony.
He also encouraged the officers to strive for excellence in serving the people.
Dr. Williams addressed the issue of corruption and stated his position to improve the accountability of the force.
Past commissioners present at the ceremony, included Owen Ellington, Lucious Thomas, Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin and Roy Thompson.
Dr. Williams is the 28th Commissioner of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
