THE Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) says three of its senior officials will join international election observation missions for the general elections in Grenada, which is scheduled for March 13.
EOJ said Caribbean Community (Caricom) Secretariat and the Organization of American States (OAS) have invited the Jamaican representatives to participate in various capacities on the electoral missions.
EOJ said all three representatives have extensive experience in electoral management and administration, and both Welsh and Simpson have served on numerous observation missions.
Opportunities to participate in electoral observation missions overseas allow for external certification of elections, sharing of expertise and experience, and are also treated by the EOJ as valuable learning opportunities, the office said in a release Tuesday.
The Caricom and OAS delegations will carry out their functions from March 7 – 15.
