Five years ago budding deejay Future Vybz released his first song Summer Turn Up , a combination with dancehall veteran Cutty Ranks. Released digitally, it created enough of a buzz for his brother and mentor Dennis Francis to invest in his career.

Francis, known as Dmoneyy, produced Summer Turn Up for his Dbeatzz label. He is also the driving force behind Connect and Chedda, Future Vybz's latest songs.

They mark a comeback for 22-year-old Future Vybz (real name, Jeron Francis), who took a break from music following his favourable debut.

“I feel more prepared now, to tell di truth. Di songs voice better an' mi more confident than when mi start out,” he said.

He and his sibling believe that that confidence and maturity can be heard on Don't Be Ungrateful, Future Vybz's first EP which is scheduled for release in August.

“When we were recording we didn't concentrate on jus' one song. We wanted to do enough so eventually we can release an album of different genres,” said Francis.

Future Vybz is from Trinityville, St Thomas. It was while attending St Thomas Technical High School that he got into music seriously; his biggest influences then were singer Stevie Face and deejay Popcaan, who are also St Thomas natives.

Through his brother's music contacts he did his first song alongside Cutty Ranks, a dancehall powerhouse from the 1980s and 1990s. Released on digital formats iTunes and Amazon, Summer Turn Up's performance influenced the older Francis to invest in his brother's career once he left school.

Connect is the lead single from Don't Be Ungrateful, which is available through iTunes, Tidal and Spotify. The pro-ganja Smoking Pledge is another song from the EP.
