Holder and Brathwaite shine as Windies beat PNG at World Cup qualifiers

West Indies captain Jason Holder finished a run away from a maiden One Day International century as the Caribbean side recovered from an early scare to beat Papua New Guinea by six wickets in their Group 'A' World Cup qualifier in Harare on Thursday morning. Holder was left unbeaten on 99 and with him Shai Hope 49, as the Windies recovered from 58- 4 to reach victory at 201 without further loss.

Shimron Hetmyer 8, Evin Lewis 8, Marlon Samuels 24 and Jason Mohammed nought, were the wickets to go.

Veteran opener Chris Gayle sat out the game for the West Indies and was replaced by Rovman Powell. The win leaves the West Indies second in the Group on 4 points, the same as Ireland who they play next on Saturday.
