So you want to celebrate Arthur Guinness Day at the National Arena but are unable to travel to Kingston to attend? No problem.
Guinness has ensured that fans of the world-famous drink will be able to engage in their own celebrations at a half-dozen Arthur Guinness viewing parties at their favourite bars across the island on September 25.
For the celebrations on September 25, each bar will be spruced up to the tune of $500,000 as Guinness' parent company in Jamaica, Red Stripe, will provide high-quality LED screens, a live feed of Arthur Guinness Day concert, Guinness deals to patrons, permits and seating, which will also help bring in a lot of future business for the winning locations.
The Sir Arthur Guinness Concert, now in its fifth year here in Jamaica, will feature top dancehall acts such as Bugle, Agent Sasco (Assassin), Lady Saw, along with soca acts Skinny Fabulous and Mr Killa.
The bars were chosen between August 10 and September 6 when Guinness consumers were asked to vote for their favourite bar. The winning bars were those who received most votes. At the end of the competition B&S Sports Bar in Gregory Park, St Catherine; Camille's Pub at Water Lane in Clarendon; Crystal Nite Club in Port Antonio, Portland; Kemmy Bar in Cave Valley, St Ann; 2-Tyre Bar in Three-Miles River, Westmoreland and Little Pub on Barnett Street in St James, were the winners.
"Guinness wanted to celebrate with all our bars and so we asked the consumers to choose. Arthur Guinness Day in bars is just another way for us to say thank you for supporting Guinness all year round. Cheers to all our bars!" said Guinness brand manager Raquel Nevins. "We encourage consumers who cannot make it to the National Arena to turn up at these bars starting at 5 p.m. to be a part of this moment."
