AFTER winning the Inspire Award at the FIRST Tech Challenge in New York City in February, the Jamaica College Robotics Team is now on the road to the Super Regionals round of the competition.
This is the semi-final round, which will take place at the University of Scranton, Pennsylvania, in the United States beginning March 16. It will see the team competing against 72 other teams.
Speaking with members of the team, they said they are humbled yet excited about advancing to this level of the competition, and remain optimistic about their chances of winning this round.
Information technology teacher and faculty advisor to the team, Jason Brown, said: “The team is confident in its work. We are confident with the programming and it's just for everything to work on the day.”
Moreover, the team expressed thanks to National Baking Company for funding their journey thus far through a donation of $2.5 million.
“We are extremely grateful and really could not have done it without the company's generous donation,” Brown said, noting that it is the second year the company has made a donation to the school's robotics club.
