Effective today (September 14) passengers traveling on JUTC buses will only be able to access concession fares with the use of a smarter card.

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company says the new system, restricts the drivers to issuing tickets only for the adult fare which is $120.

The adult fare is the only one which passengers may pay by cash which means passengers wishing to access the concession fare must use the smarter cards.

The JUTC says there is no deadline for adult passenger category to get a smarter card and they can pay their $120 fare with cash or card on any JUTC bus at anytime, anywhere.

Meanwhile, JUTC says the special centre, on the top floor of the half way tree transport centre, was opened at 8 o clock this morning to facilitate passengers wishing to pick up concession cards. The centre will close at 10 pm.

The Spanish Town bus park and East Parade office in Downtown were also opened today from 9:00 a.m. To 5:00 p.m.

Concession passengers are children between three years old and eleven years old; students aged 12 to 20 in school uniform; the elderly, 60 years and older and persons with disabilities who have been issued identification cards from the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities.
