AFTER creating an introductory buzz with the collaborative effort Ride Up with fellow female artiste Tifa, singer Khalia has released her follow-up single Let Me Be Me .
“It's a song to inspire anyone who's on a journey in life to being great. Especially those who are following unconventional paths that their parents or friends might not approve off. For instance, someone into photography and their parents push them to be a doctor. The song is saying be you, and be the best you,” said Khalia.
Khalia spoke about the response to Let Me Be Me, released September 1 on the K-Licious Music imprint. It is available on all digital outlets.
“The response has been amazing! Prior to its official release, I put up a 'mash-up' video a few weeks before of me doing 90s dancehall hits on the instrumental and people really like it. It currently has over 270,000 views and counting. All the comments have been positive and almost 2,000 people have shared it. So, I'm very pleased,” she said.
Since the release of Ride Up a few months ago, Khalia's stardom has been steadily on the rise.
“People are still listening to Ride Up on the radio and TV. It has also been on a few charts in Jamaica. The song has given me a platform for more opportunities to showcase my music and talents. There's also a remix out now by UK-based producers/DJs Pink Panda. You can find that on all digital outlets,” said Khalia.
