Forty -two basic and preparatory schools will participate in the 2018 staging of Little Bee Spelling, the signature project of the Kiwanis Club of New Kingston.
The competition was launched this past Wednesday, March 21 and will culminate in May 2018.
At the launch, booklets containing words and picture prompts were distributed to the schools for teachers to use in preparing the children. The words, the club explained, are selected in collaboration with the Early Childhood Unit of the Ministry of Education so that the appropriate level of difficulty is achieved.
“All the children in the schools can therefore benefit from the use of these booklets,” the club said in a release.
More than one representative is allowed from each school during the early stages of the competition, with 10 schools making it to the final. There, only one representative per school is eligible.
