A man whom police said they caught breaking into a shop in an arcade in the wee hours of the morning in downtown Kingston, claimed the police are lying on him.
The court heard that police were on patrol on February 25, around 3:50 am, at the corner of Beckford Street and West Street when they saw the accused, Kirk Jones, breaking into a shop in the arcade.
Further reports said that Jones was caught stealing a bag of clothes valued at $30,000.
But Jones, who was charged with simple larceny, pleaded not guilty when he appeared in court last Friday.
He was, however, remanded for trial on March 23 and attorney Althea Freeman was assigned by the court to be his lawyer.
