ST JAMES, Jamaica — A man was hauled before the St James Parish Court last week Thursday, after he was cited by Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA) and the National Environment & Planning Agency (NEPA) for overshooting during the bird shooting season back in 2015.

Parish Judge Lawrence-Grainger fined Horace Mair $30,000 or ten days imprisonment at hard labour for shooting 23 baldplates at Kirkpatrick in the parish — a punishable offence under the Wild Life Protection (Game Bird Hunting Limit) Regulations, which states that persons are allowed to hunt a maximum of fifteen baldpates at any session.
