Dr Carl Williams has been installed as the new head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
The command was handed over to him from Glenmore Hinds in a ceremony at the Police Officers Club on Hope Road in St Andrew this afternoon.
Governor General Sir Patrick Allen; Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller; Leader of the Opposition, Andrew Holness; Minister of National Security, Peter Bunting among other dignitaries and guests were in attendance.
In his acceptance speech Williams said that he was humbled by the confidence the Jamaican people have placed in him.
Williams also thank the Police Service Commission for entrusting him with the responsibility to lead the men and women of this organisation that he has served for the past 30 years.
