A woman who admitted to hitting another woman whom she claimed had been slandering her name in their community, was fined $20,000 or told to serve three months in prison.
Sashia Brown pleaded guilty with explanation to assault occasioning bodily harm when she appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday.
“She walking around the community saying I said things,” Brown told the court, adding that she was provoked.
The complainant told the court that her cellular phone was damaged by Brown.
The court was told by the prosecutor, however, that the complainant mentioned in her statement that the phone was damaged.
