The Queen’s begin defence of junior, senior league netball titles today

DEFENDING champions the Queen's begin their defence of both the Junior and Senior League titles as the 2014 Digicel/ISSA High School netball competition gets under way today at the Queen's School Courts.

The Queen's, who are also the all-island junior champions, will first take on Tivoli Gardens High at 2:30, while the defending all-island Senior League champions will go up against Tivoli Gardens High at approximately 3:15. The Marvette Anderson-coached teams are hoping to start on winning notes, despite having lost a few players from the senior ranks. Other matches scheduled for today in Zone E Junior and Senior Leagues are Mona High vs Pembroke Hall High; Wolmer's Girls' vs Gaynstead High.

Former many-time champions St Hugh's High coached by Roy Pryce will be at home to Waterford; Excelsior High face St Mary's College; Campion College take on Hydel High. Zone B matches are St Jago High vs Innswood High; Jonathan Grant High vs Holy Childhood High; and Eltham High vs Vauxhall High. Meanwhile, a total of 41 urban high schools are participating in the competition with the winners and runners-up qualifying for the second round to be divided into Groups A and B in both the junior and senior sections.
