It's by-election day in Jamaica

It's Election Day in the constituency of St. Andrew North Western and the Norman Gardens Division in Kingston Eastern and Port Royal.

The People's National Party's Keisha Hayle and the Jamaica Labour Party's Dr. Nigel Clarke are vying to become the next Member of Parliament for St. Andrew North Western, the seat left vacant by the retirement of longstanding MP Derrick Smith.

In the Norman Garden Division it will be a battle between the JLP's Headley Wilson and Jacqueline Lewis of the PNP. They will be vying to succeed Angela Brown Burke, who last year vacated the municipal seat to contest and win the election to Parliament for the constituency of St. Andrew South Western.

Voting will begin at 7 o'clock at 112 polling stations in St. Andrew North Western and 52 polling stations in the Norman Gardens Division.

The polls will close at 5 o'clock after which the preliminary counting of ballots will take place.

There are 30,216 registered voters in St. Andrew North Western and 13,517 in the Norman Gardens Division.

The Electronic Voter Identification System will be used in both elections.
