National junior representative Llori Sharp dominated Saturday’s opening day of the inaugural Carifta Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships in Barbados. Sharpe captured the sprint triathlon in the 16-19 age group championship in a time of 1 hour, 11 minutes and 29 seconds. This event had a 750m swim, a 20km bike ride and a 5 km run.
She finished two minutes ahead of Guadeloupe's Chreismaldy Robert with Rachai Grosberg of Trinidad and Tobago finishing third. Fellow Jamaican Zara Harris was 9th among the 12 competitors.
In the boys division, Jonathan Lyn ended 9th in 1 hour, 17 minutes and 5 seconds while compatriot Jonah McClure finished 10th in 1 hour, 25 minutes and 35 seconds.
In the boys 11-12 category, Israel Allen was second in the aquathlon in 9 minutes and 57 seconds behind Guadeloupe's Mathis Verin who did 9 minutes and 49 seconds. This event had a 250m swim and a 2.5 kilometre run.
