The Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch is reporting improved traffic flow along Spanish Town Road with the opening of the Chesterfield Drive bypass.
Senior Superintendent Calvin Allen, commanding officer for the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, told RJR News on Monday that he has been getting positive feedback from motorists.
The road is designed to accommodate motorists from Portia Simpson-Miller Square going towards downtown Kingston.
Motorists going to Half-Way-Tree may also use it as an option to get on to East Avenue from Marcus Garvey Drive.
The new road was developed to ease the traffic problems caused by the extensive redevelopment of Portia Simpson Miller Square, one of the busiest intersections in the Corporate Area, work on which has been taking place for several months and is set to continue for some time yet.
