ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— The Old Harbour police yesterday charged a man and a woman with illegal possession of ammunition on Wednesday, September 6.

Charged are 20-year-old Samuel Ferguson otherwise called 'Sam', and 31-year-old Simona Williams, security guard, both of Panton Lane in Old Harbour, St Catherine.

Reports are that about 10:20 pm a police party was on patrol on East Street in the town when Ferguson aroused their suspicion. He was accosted, searched and five 12-gauge cartridges found in a knapsack he was carrying.

The police say that about 11:00 pm a follow-up operation was conducted at Ferguson's house, where an additional six 12-gauge cartridges were found hidden in a suitcase.

Williams, who was at the house at the time of the operation, was arrested when it was revealed that the suitcase belonged to her.

Both Ferguson and Williams are scheduled to appear before the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, September 15.
