Steadily growing as a solo act, singer Dann-I says he has been getting much attention from his new single, Uncle Come.
It is not just another 'bun' song, but about a man who finds out that his spouse's lover visits his home regularly and is referred to by his children as 'uncle'.
Dann-I explained that the idea for the song came aout through a discussion he was having with his manager, Sonny Spoon.
"We just a talk and the idea come and I put it in a song. It was not personally inspired," he said, laughing.
Still a relatively new act on the scene, Dann-I says he is pleased with the reception the song has been getting since being released four months ago.
"It a gwaan good inna the streets. People have been relating to the song more than I even expected. People have really been gravitating to the song. I think they like it and it has been getting good airplay," he told THE STAR.
Dann-I, who was once part of the singing group, Q, says he cannot predict what will eventually happen with the song, but he is very pleased with the progress.
"Mi just leave it up to the people to really decide what happens because music is so unpredictable. I personally like Time No Wait more, but the people seem to be gravitating to this more," he said, noting that Time No Wait spent two months at number one on the Hitlist reggae chart.
The young singer also has other songs under his belt including Honey Lips and Miss New York City, but he says he is focusing on promoting Uncle Come.
