US charity gives free surgeries at KPH

Eight adolescent patients who suffer from scoliosis benefited tremendously from corrective surgery during a medical mission at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) recently.

The mission was carried out by a team from the Duncan Tree Foundation (DTF).

The team also assisted with surgery on a patient with spinal cord injury and another patient with metastatic cancer, bringing to 10 the number of patients who benefited from the medical mission.

The Duncan Tree Foundation is a US-based charitable organisation, which has been assisting the KPH to reduce its list for corrective surgery for scoliosis patients since 2012.

This was the Foundation’s 11th trip to KPH. The Foundation also donated the instruments required to do all the surgeries.
