Walsh's replacement could be delayed

4:01 am, Wed September 10, 2014

President of the Jamaica Cricket Association Wilford "Billy" Heaven says a new second vice president may not be named until November.

Heaven on Tuesday confirmed the resignation of Ambassador Courtney Walsh who was also a national selector.

This comes four days after RJR Sports Online first reported the story.

Walsh's decision comes following his elevation to the West Indies Cricket Board selection panel last month.

RJR Sports Online quizzed Heaven about the possible candidates to replace Walsh as the second vice president.

RJR sources say at least four persons should be in the running to fill post.

They are President of the St. Catherine C.C., Osmond Dann, President of Melbourne C.C. Mark Neita, current JCA treasurer Wayne Sutherland and JCA director and chairman of the selection panel Wavell Hinds.

It is further understood that Walsh's replacement could also come from outside of directorship of the JCA board.
