If you've never heard of British soul singer Mica Paris, not to worry: we'll fix that. Described by Abu Dhabi news outlet The National as “your favourite singer's preferred artist”, Paris has a voice that's part Dame Shirley Bassey and part Anita Baker. These vocal chops brought her fame at a young age and have afforded her the opportunity to sing alongside Prince (RIP) on-stage and tour globally.

Paris took time off from her current gig starring as Miss Sherman in the West End revival of Fame The Musical to fly to the Rock in support of Women's Health Network Jamaica and the Cornwall Regional Hospital. The fundraising event held on Tuesday at Hanover Grange — the Tryall-located holiday home of British philanthropists Theresa and Andrew Roberts — saw close to 70 audience members wowed by Paris's vocals. In the words of young folks who live on the Internet: “She's got the range!”

Performing numbers from her acclaimed tour and album Mica Sings Ella, Paris' tribute to jazz great Ella Fitzgerald was, in a word, electrifying. The dynamic cabaret-style performance had guests wanting more. After two encores the crowd was still begging Paris to continue, but as a veteran performer, she knows when to take her bow. Guests left with full hearts and jazz classics on their lips.

Thursday Social gives you a taste of the Hanover Grange fund-raising event. For complete coverage see the Style Observer (SO) on Sunday.
