MONTEGO BAY, St James — The second staging of charity event 'Pon Di Beach Retro Party' is set for the beautiful Tropical Bliss Beach in Montego Bay on Saturday.
The party, which is a fund-raising event for Lodge Elgin 1562 SC, has raised over $2 million in its various productions over the last eight years. The event has evolved from Pon Di River, which ran for six years at Martha Brae in Trelawny, to its now current position at Tropical Bliss Beach.
“Funds raised from the event are donated in the form of scholarships to Cornwall College and Montego Bay Community College students, as well as assistance to the St Francis Basic School,” said Junior Taylor, a member of the organising committee.
“Last year we were able to renovate the kitchen at the basic school and this year we are looking to do more repairs to the classrooms,” he added.
He said with Monymusk Rums onboard as a sponsor “this will allow us to have exciting drink specials and mixes, and the ticket also gets you a meal.”
“This is a good deal and patrons will also get the opportunity to have a really good time, and it's in aid of a worthy cause, so we are really looking forward to having some fun with good music in the mix,” said Taylor.
Gates open at 2:00 pm, while the party is expected to end at 10:00 pm.
