KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) will today begin a one-month drainage improvement project at the Spanish Town Road/Pennwood Road intersection in St Andrew.
The primary works involve the replacement of a defective drain grating at the intersection.
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, said the activities which will begin with concrete works will see the intersection being reduced intermittently to single lane traffic as the project will be implemented in two phases.
He explained that the receiving left lane on Pennwood Road will be closed for approximately two weeks to allow for the curing of the concrete and following the installation of the grating, the left lane will be closed for similar works to be done.
The NWA said it recently completed a similar grating replacement project at Cockburn Avenue, also along Spanish Town Road and is slated to undertake similar works at Henley Road and Diamond Avenue along the corridor.
