FOREVER Beach, Chill Jamaica, and Soirée::SPF are the three-party line-up for this year's Summer Playground Fantasy (SPF) Weekend slated for August 4 to 6 in St Ann.
The announcement was made at the event's media launch held at the CRU Bar in St Andrew on Tuesday night.
“This year we're united; we all share the same vision moving forward, which is to put SPF as a calendar event on the international market,” David Shirley, director — KLE Group, SPF Weekend organisers, told Splash.
Forever Beach will be held at Chukka Beach, on August 4 followed by Chill Jamaica, at Dunn's River Gardens on August 5. Soirée::SPF continues to be the closer on August 6, at Pearly Beach West. All three are held in the environs around Ocho Rios.
Shirley said Chill has found a home under the SPF umbrella. Originally developed in South Florida by DJ Richie D, Chill, for the fourth year, is part of SPF.
“I'm a DJ, so I hear complaints, the positive and negatives, in Miami. From that, I just followed what the audience wanted. Most importantly, they want to feel good, that means good music and liquor to give them that vibe,” he explained.
With Chill on the menu, Shirley hopes to tap into that event's North American following. The push will start with a six-part video series titled Journey to SPF featuring Instagram personality Krystal Pitt, to be released via social media.
The local market hasn't been forgotten with significant incentives, ranging from room discounts at Jewel Dunn's River Resort, to unique transportation options through Jamaica Urban Transport Corporation (JUTC) and GB Energy Jamaica, holders of the Texaco brand. Those driving can get a discount off their Soirée::SPF ticket with a specific fuel purchase from Texaco stations.
“CPJ has sponsored SPF Weekend in the past. They're bringing their premium liquor brands and they'll be providing gourmet foods, so patrons can come out and be assured that they'll get a quality experience when it comes to cuisine and the bar,” Shirley said.
