The Sunsihne Girls will aim for a playoff spot in the Fast 5 World Series in Australia when they play New Zealand and England on Saturday night Jamaica time. The Sunshine Girls had two wins and a loss on day one of the series.
They first beat South Africa 47-27 in their opening match witih Romelda Aiken scoring 11 goals from 12 attempts and Shanice Beckford netting 6 from 11. The Sunshine Girlz then lost 37-22 to Australia as Aiken netted 6 goals from 9 attempts and Beckford 5 from 12.
They then beat Malawi in the third match 35-30 as Aiken re-discovered her shooting touch to score 8 goals from 9 attempts with Shimona Nelson supporting with 6 from 8. The Sunshine Girlz were runners-up at the last Fast 5 Series, having lost to England in the final.
