UB40 spin-off tops reggae chart

BRITISH reggae band UB40 Featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey debuts at number one on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart with Real Labour of Love . The tribute set was released on March 2 by Universal Music and has so far sold 307 copies.

The 16-track album by former members of UB40 contains covers of popular Jamaican hit songs including Beres Hammond's She Loves Me Now, Dennis Brown's Here I Come and How Could I Leave, JC Lodge's Telephone Love, Wayne Smith's Under Me Sleng Teng, Ken Boothe's Moving Away and Gregory Isaacs' Rumours.

Chill Vibes, a reggae-leaning compilation by 19-year-old Filipino social media star Bretman Rock, enters the chart at number two with 159 copies. It features songs by Hollie Cook, Stick Figure, Bazil and Collie Buddz.

Konshens makes his debut on the chart with It Feel Good (Subkonshus Music/Empire), coming in at number 11 with 68 copies sold. The 16-track set features collaborations with Rick Ross, Bakersteez, Chris Brown (on the remix of Bruck off Yuh Back), Kosa, Tarrus Riley and Shaggy.

Etana earns her fifth title on the chart with Reggae Forever, which comes in at number 10 with a meagre 69 copies. Her previous entry, 2014's I Rise, went to number one.

Time Bomb, a 2010 release by California reggae band Iration, re-enters the chart at number nine, while the compilation Get Soca 2018 falls to eight.

Chronology by Chronixx is down to number seven, while Poetry in Motion by SOJA rises six places to number six.

Henricci's Sister Caro EP holds firm at number five, while last week's chart-topper Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica falls to number four.

Damian Marley's Stony Hill holds the number three spot with 18,708 copies sold.

Elsewhere, a reissue of Ken Boothe's 10-track album, Freedom Street (Limited Grey Asphalt Edition) by British label Real Gone Music, enters at number 43 based on pre-orders. The official release date is scheduled for April 6.

New at number 19 is roots singer Bushman, who scores his second entry with Conquering Lion which has sold a paltry 40 copies. It was released on March 2 by his Burning Bushes Music.

Bushman previously peaked at number 10 in 2011 with Bushman Sings the Bush Doctor: A Tribute to Peter Tosh.
